Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka
He was unanimously nominated to the position of Party Leader during the party’s 2012 National Delegates conference after which he was given the mandate to approach other like-minded parties and form a coalition capable of winning state power.
He was ready to give a second attempt to the Presidency, but agreed to enter into a coalition with Hon. Raila Odinga, and for the greater good of the Country, also agreed to be Raila’s running mate during the 2013 general elections.
A deeply religious Man and a lawyer by profession, Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka is a seasoned politician who was first elected to parliament in 1984 to represent the then Kitui North Constituency.
During his political career spanning 3 decades, he has over the years served in a number of key cabinet positions, including, that of Education, Foreign Affairs and Environment. It was during his tenure as Minister for foreign affairs that he over saw the peace negotiations in Southern Sudan (which gave birth to the signing of the comprehensive peace agreement) as well as the Somalia peace initiative.
